Situated in South Santa Clara County at the crossing of U.S. Highway 101 and State Highway 152 and containing a variety of superior community facilities and resources including Gilroy Gardens, Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch, Henry W. Coe State Park,Mt. Madona,Gilroy Premium Outlets, and historic Downtown.Gilroy is known for its garlic crop and the annual Gilroy Garlic Festival, featuring various garlicky foods such as garlic ice cream, leading to the city's nickname, the Garlic Capital of the World. Christopher Ranch is the largest employer in this city.  It is also known for boutique wine production, which is a large part of Gilroy's western portion, mostly consisting of family estates around the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west.
